BAPTISM CLASSES

Welcome to our Baptism Classes

 

 

The Baptism Class has three parts. Module 1 provides a common language for which will help in participating in the 2nd and 3rd. Module 2 covers elements of Church teaching on the Sacrament from the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Module 3 discusses the various elements of the liturgy with which the Church celebrates the Sacrament of Baptism. The roles of the parents and Godparents are discussed throughout all 3 modules.

MODULE 1

Consider these 3 questions.

  • The difference between “natural” and “Super-natural” life.
  • The effects of Baptism.
  • The different types of Baptism: Sacramental, Blood, and Desire.

Handouts for this module are provided at registration.

MODULE 3

This module is offered shortly before the celebration of the Rite of Baptism. It explains how the celebration of the Rite of Baptism takes place and covers the rich symbolism that is found throughout the Rite. Handouts for this module are provided at registration.

How to register to San Pedro Baptism Class

  • Pre-Requisites: A one-page handout with perquisites for the parents and godparents will be provided to you prior to registration.
    • The class will be offered only once the baptismal form is completed.
    • Non-Parishioners: You will be asked for information regarding the parish at which you intend to celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism.
      • Please note: ***Due to limitations because of the pandemic class space for Baptism for non-parishioners is limited. Please call for availability.***

How to register:  Simply call the parish office for a form which can be filled out and then emailed to: [email protected] , or you may fill out the form online REGISTRATION FORM

Class is offered once per month, please do not miss. The baptism course can also be completed in “module” format for those with legitimate reason.

PARENTS ARE THE ONLY ONES ALLOWED TO REGISTER THEIR CHILD(REN)

The following items must be brought with you at the time of registration:

 

  • The Birth Certificate of your child
  • God-Parents (Sponsors) Names*Baptism Registration Form
 Requirements for Parents and God-Parents

1) To prepare for the Baptism, the parish offers a workshop on Sundays in Spanish and English Both Parents and Godparents are required to attend this workshop before baptizing.
2) The child is not required to be present at the class. If you bring him/her, NO personnel will be provided to take care of the child.
3) Both Parents and God-Parents must attend the required classes; you are also strongly encouraged to attend Sunday Mass and take part as much as possible in our parish activities. You are members of our Parish Community, which is why you are invited to participate.
4) There is to be only one male sponsor or one female sponsor or one of each. (CIM 873)
5) Have completed the 16th year of age (CIM-874,2)
6) Must be a Catholic who has been confirmed and has already received the most holy sacrament of the Eucharist and who leads a life of faith in keeping with the function to be taken on. (CIM 874, 3)
7) Must not be the father or mother of the one to be baptized. (CIM 874, 5)
8) It is not necessary that the parents of the child be married through the Church. But the God- Parents must be married.
9) Since the Baptism is a Sacrament that is received in public, there are NO Private Baptisms; Please make arrangements to have your child baptized per the Baptism Schedule.
10) This Baptismal Program is only for children 6 years of age and under.
11) The parents must re-register in case of a cancellation of the Baptism Ceremony.
